Civil Air Patrol
What is Civil Air Patrol?
The Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary to the United States Air Force. CAP is comprised of volunteers who perform 95% of land search and rescue missions as directed by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center at Tyndall AFB, FL.
The La Crosse Composite SquadronThe La Crosse Composite Squadron is made up of volunteers from our area who desire to serve their nation through a love of aviation, a commitment to excellence, and a passion for community service.
Our members come from a wide age range and all backgrounds. There are a number of pilots among our ranks; however, being a pilot is not a requirement for membership. In fact, only about 10 percent of all CAP members nationally are pilots. As with the Air Force, CAP needs accountants, attorneys, instructors, public affairs officers, and clergy, to name a few. We are also widespread, with squadron members coming from communities throughout southwest Wisconsin and southeast Minnesota.
All in all, we combine our individual talents and come together for a common purpose, which is to serve our country by fulfilling the three missions of Civil Air Patrol: Cadet Programs, Emergency Services, and Aerospace Education.
